World of Warcraft: Recurring Nightmares
Description: Dwarves are a strong and hardy people with a zest for combat, exploration, and many a fine ale. The dwarven race is on that is steeped in tradition. While the monarchs of the past are honoured, so, too, are the explorers that continue to search for answers surrounding the mysterious origins of the dwarven race.
Appearance: All types of Dwarves are short and stout to varying degrees. The males always have beards, typically a long wild beard sometimes with hair to match. Female dwarves are also short as well as stout albeit to a lesser degree. They rarely have appear to have beards, although there are instances of bearded female dwarves typically among Wildhammer dwarves.
Faith: Dwarven priests and paladins deliver the message of the Light to their people. They share their faith with humanity and uphold its precepts and teachings. Some dwarves have recently taken to exploring their own deep connections with the earth, and have started paying a greater reverence towards nature.
Names: Dwarves typically have names reflecting the sturdy nature of their past. Many also have surnames that were earned by a member of the family in service during a quest or in a particular moment of notoriety or infamy that has now become part of a family legacy.
- Male Names: Barab, Aradun, Thorin, Magni, Garrim, Wendel, Thurimar.
- Female Names: Chise, Helge, Ferya, Furga, Krona, Imli.
- Family Names: Thunderforge, Bronzebeard, Hammergrim, Thornsteel, Chunderstout.
+2 Strength, +2 Constitution, -2 Charisma: Dwarves tend to have stout and health bodies, but their mannerisms can be quite gruff and difficult to deal with.
Medium: Dwarves are Medium creatures and have no bonuses or penalties due to their size.
Slow and Steady: Dwarves have a base speed of 20 feet, but their speed is never modified by armor or encumbrance.
Frost Resistance (Ex): Dwarves have a cold resistance 5.
Historian: Dwarves gain a +2 racial bonus on Knowledge (history).
Might of the Mountain: Dwarves are proficient with Dwarven Waraxes, Dwarven Warhammers, and Dwarven Tossing Hammers. Additionally dwarves treat pistols and muskets as martial weapons rather than exotic weapons.
Stability: Dwarves receive a +4 racial bonus to their CMD when resisting bull rush or trip attempts while standing on the ground.
Stonecutting: Dwarves receive a +2 bonus on Perception checks to notice unusual stonework, such as traps and hidden doors located in stone walls or floors. They receive a check to notice such features whenever they pass within 10 feet of them, whether or not they are actively looking.
Stoneform (Su): Once per day a dwarf may cast Barkskin as a supernatural ability, with a caster level equal to the user’s character level.
Weaponsmith: Dwarves gain a +2 racial bonus on all Craft or Profession checks to create objects from metal or stone.
Languages: Dwarves begin play speaking Common and Dwarven. Furthermore, dwarves with high Intelligence scores can learn Darnassian, Gnomish, Goblin, Orcish, and Thalassian.
Favoured Classes: Alchemist, Barbarian, Bard, Cavalier, Cleric, Fighter, Monk, Oracle, Paladin, Ranger, Rogue, Wizard.
